Hi, everyone.

For those of you attending the AAMC meeting Nov 2-7 in San Francisco this year, there will be several sessions related to implementing the Curriculum Inventory and MedAPS that we'd like you to attend. Details from Terri Cameron follow.

Three sessions may be of particular interest to you, and, although we did not ask you to pre-register for them, we would like to get an idea of how many of you are planning to attend. If you plan to attend any of these sessions, please e-mail Terri Cameron (tcameron at aamc.org<mailto:tcameron at aamc.org>).

Friday, November 2: 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. (Intercontinental MedAPS Suite)
Hands-On Workshop for Creating an XML Upload to the Curriculum Inventory (for School Technical Staff/System Developers)

Saturday, November 3: 8:00 - 9:30 a.m. (Marriott Marquis Yerba Buena Salons 10-12)
Preparing for the Curriculum Inventory - What do Curriculum Deans Need to Know?

Saturday, November 3: 5:00 - 6:30 p.m. (Moscone 3022/3024)
Implementing the MedBiquitous Curriculum Inventory Standard

The Saturday evening session is for both Curriculum Deans/Staff and Technical Staff who could not attend the two earlier sessions. It will be a brief overview of what needs to be done to prepare for the Curriculum Inventory.
if a school has a vendor for all four years of their curriculum, the vendor will handle their upload to the CI, and they don't need to send anyone to the workshop. We will be repeating this workshop at the GEA Regional Meetings, at MedBiquitous, and at GIR.

Here is the description of the workshop. It is also available at: https://aamc.expoplanner.com/index.cfm?do=expomap.sess&event_id=2&session_id=1654

After a technical review of the MedBiquitous Curriculum Inventory Data Exchange Standard (XML), workshop presenters will discuss the following topics:

  * Creating a crosswalk for Standardized vocabulary
  * Implementing the concept of Resources for Instructional and Assessment Methods
  * Linking course and session objectives to competencies
  * Clerkship data - what needs to be documented; where can the data be found?
  * Electives data - what needs to be documented; where can the data be found?
  * New terminology/concepts - phase, sequence block, competency, milestone, EPA, integrated clerkship/experience, longitudinal clerkship/experience
  * Documenting Integrated and Longitudinal Curricula
Participants will use the presented information to document the process for developing uploads from their systems to the Curriculum Inventory and map their curriculum data to the MedBiquitous Curriculum Inventory Data Exchange Standard.
