WebPatientEncounter.ps is an online system for coaching physicians to improve patient satisfaction scores. We're building it on our proven on-line case-based WebOSCE™ system that we’ve been developing and refining during the last decade for the remote practice, assessment, and feedback of healthcare communication competencies. For WebPatientEncounter.ps, we develop 5 cases that are specifically fitted to foster communication competencies that result in high patient satisfaction. WebPatientEncounter.ps received the Philadelphia Science Center's 2013 QED award. The QED Program, the nation’s first multi- institutional proof-of-concept program for life science technologies, intends to bridge the gap between research grants and commercial seed investment, by awarding grants to life science and digital health technologies with high potential in the healthcare industry. See http://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20131203006563/en for more information on the Science center and the QED award. We'll present the current stage of the project and talk about our experiences in the creation of the spin-off company that is an important part of the project.
