National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners

The National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners (NBOME) is developing a number of osteopathically distinct Osteopathic Performance Assessment and Improvement Modules (OPAIM™). These web-based formative assessments may be used to help physicians fulfill requirements for Maintenance of Licensure (MOL), Osteopathic Continuous Certification (OCC), or Continuing Medical Education (CME). Each OPAIM™ is a comprehensive collection of e-learning components and formative assessments carefully designed to foster lifelong learning for osteopathic physicians. OPAIMs™ combine pre-knowledge and pre-performance assessments, educational material, self-reflection, post- knowledge and post-performance assessments. Assessment and educational materials are osteopathically distinct and designed specifically for osteopathic physicians. Additional benefits of include pre-recorded educational screencasts and video demonstrations. Since OPAIM’s™ are web-based, physicians can access OPAIMs™ at their convenience--anytime, anyplace they have Internet access. These web-based educational programs provide a valuable tool for the evaluation of physician competence. In addition to learning how these web-based OPAIMs™ can be used to fulfill educational needs and requirements, conference participants will learn and explore the technology within these OPAIMs™.
